Thanksgiving Series: Keeping It Simple, Green Beans

I just want to talk about a few side dishes that you can keep simple. SInce the star of the show is the turkey, sometimes it’s best to keep the sides more simple. One of my favorite sides to keep simple are green beans. I know many of your families do a green bean casserole, I have a casserole recipe that is labor extensive and if anyone wants it I’m happy to share! But today I want to talk about the simplicity of green beans. Embrace their natural goodness 🙂

ingredients:

1 Pound fresh green beans (trim the tops and washed)

1TBS Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions:

Get a bowl of Ice and water

After you clean your beans and trim the tops off, place in a pot with an inch of cold water. Bring to a simmer and cover for three-five minutes.

Once the beans are tender enough to your liking take out and put immediately into the bowl of ice and water.

Let sit for a few seconds.

In the pot, add 1 TBS Olive oil and return the beans to the pot.

Season with salt and pepper.

Serve warm or cold 🙂
